New Delhi: Minister of State for Finance, Anurag Singh Thakur today said that there is no proposal under consideration of the Union Government for granting Special Category Status to Odisha.
Thakur also ruled out sharing pattern for Centrally Sponsored Scheme in the ratio of 90:10 to Odisha at par with North-Eastem and Himalayan States.
He further said that the Fourteenth Finance Commission did not make a distinction between Special and General Category States in determining their norms and recommendations.
The Minister’s response came in replay to a question of Odisha’s BJD MP Ramesh Chandra Majhi in the Lok Sabha.
The BJD MP sought to know whether the Centre has any proposal to declare Odisha as a special category state and allow the sharing pattern for Centrally Sponsored Scheme in the ratio of 90:10 at par with North-Eastem and Himalayan States.
