Norwegian Ambassador Visits Cuttack to See Implementation of Cervical Cancer Screening Program

Cuttack: Norwegian Ambassador Hans Jacob Frydenlund on Tuesday visited Urban Public Health Centre (UPHC) to understand the implementation of Cervical Cancer Screening Program at Thoriasahi, Cuttack.

To screen cervical cancer at the community level, the City Health Society, NUHM, and the Norway-India Partnership Initiative (NIPI) have started the pilot project on “home based screening of cervical cancer.

The Cervical Cancer Screening Program at Thoriasahi was the first pilot project to be successfully carried out in India.

The three-member team including the Norwegian Ambassador visited the UPHC at Thoria Sahi in Cuttack to see the implementation of the programme.

Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) Mayor Subash Chandra Singh and CMC Commissioner Nikhil Pavan Kalyan were present during the Norwegian Ambassador’s visit.

Ambassador Frydenlund expressed his satisfaction over the implementation of the programme.
