“4G mobile connectivity in the unconnected areas of Swabhiman Anchal of Malkangiri will usher in a new phase of development & further transform the lives of people”, the CM tweeted.
Inclusion of the region into communication grid symbolizes Odisha’s steely resolve to bring it into mainstream, he said.
As per reports, mobile services were initiated in Swabhiman Anchal of Malkangiri on September 7.
The trial run of the mobile network was completed in Pipalpadar, Hantalguda and Jantapai villages. Airtel is the first mobile operator which has planned to set up total seven towers at Piapalpadar, Hantalguda, Jantapai, Darlabeda, Tunnel Camp, Dyke-III and Chitrakonda, reports added.
Notably, Odisha Chief Minister created history in July 2019 when he dedicated the much-awaited Gurupriya setu (river over bridge) to join more than 30,000 tribals in 151 villages in Chitrakonda block of Malkangiri district to mainstream.
The region, once known as darkness or Bichhinnanchal, cut-off from mainland for nearly five decades, is now known as Swabhiman Anchal and has been witnessing rapid developments.
