Kendrapada: The administrative machinery is on a mission mode and the mission is to reach out to the common people. Enthused by the call given by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for citizen centric governance through Mo Sarkar, the authorities are today taking initiatives to improve the service delivery of various government departments. As a part of this exercise, Kendrapada District Collector Samarth Verma has made it a regular affair to visit various places to review the ground realities. On Wednesday he made a surprise visit to the Kendrapada District Headquarter Hospital to have a firsthand experience of the various issues concerning it.
Verma is visiting the hospital twice a week to review the day to day activities there. According to him, “As the hospitals concern common people, we cannot let them alone and we have to deal with compassion. The government is doing its best to provide all services to the patients coming to the hospital. The infrastructure is being improved and feed back of the patients are taken to improve the services.”
The Collector, in his surprise visit to the hospital on Wednesday, interacted with the patients and queried their experience in the hospital. He also reviewed the free medicines supply, free diagnostics, ultrasound, etc., that are available at the hospital.
Cleanliness, availability of beds, food being given to the patients, resting place for the attendants etc are being looked into regularly. The focus of the administration is now on making the hospitals totally corruption free and to see that no patient is harassed. The anticorruption whattsapp number released for the public has also been painted in various places inside the hospital for the information of patients so that they can reach out to the authorities without any fear. Any worker or officer asking for bribe will be dealt with seriously and hardest action will be taken against them. Users of the hospital are requested to send information and visuals if anybody asks bribe to the given whattsapp number so that action can be initiated.
The basic infrastructure of the hospital is being improved to provide the best services to the patients. Last week the state government sanctioned Rs 3 crore for various developmental works of the hospital. The funds will be spent on boundary wall, covered drains, OPD modernization, parking, and LED street lighting inside the hospital.
The collector is also taking strict action against indiscipline and inefficiency. During his latest visit to the hospital, a class 4 employee of the DHH was suspended when his video was recorded for being drunk during office hours.
