Berhampur: Four persons including three women have been arrested by Berhampur Town police in connection with a land documents forgery case.
The accused have been identified as Prasanti Nahak (30) of Haripur Burudi village under Rambha PS in Ganjam district; Kabita @ Panchei @ Basanti Nahak (52) of Sipakuda village under Rambha PS in Ganjam district; Mini @ Puspanjali Nayak (31) of Haripur Burudi village under Rambha PS in Ganjam district and Santanu Kumar Nahak (35) of Haripur Burudi village under Rambha PS in Ganjam district.
As per police, Prasanti Nahak and Kabita Nahak were staying in Gujarat at Kandla Port and both were working in a private company as employees and became close to each other. In 2019 both Prasanti and Kabita purchased a piece of land from Harikrishna Sahu (55) of Gandhi Nagar, 5th Line, Berhampur.
As Patta was not issued in name of Prasanti Nahak and Kabita Nahak and the land still showed in name of seller Harikrishna Sahu, Prasanti Nahak applied to Sub-Register, Berhampur-II with a Rectification Deed to get back the land in name the of above two Buyers.
Thereafter Prasanti requested Kabita Nahak to come to Berhampur from Gujarat for filing Rectification Deed, but the she could not come as she had some work on Gujarat.
Due to this reason Prasanti Nahak planned to impersonate her co-buyer Kabita Nahak and made some other lady impersonate as Kabita Nahak and present before Sub-Registrar, Berhampur-II by presenting forged AADHAR cards and other documents and managed to rectify the land in to her as well as Kabita Nahak’s name in June-2024 without the knowledge of original Kabita Nahak who was in Gujarat.
After getting success in getting the Rectification Deed through manipulation and cheating in June-2024, she again planned for executing a Partition Deed in same way so that she can become the sole owner of the property without the knowledge of her friend Kabita Nahak in Gujarat. But this time when she reported along with another fake Kabita Nahak at the Sub-Registrar office on 19.12.24, by again impersonating original Kabita Nahak who is still in Gujarat before the Sub-Registrar, BPR-II, using forged AADHAR Card and other documents, Sub Registrar found the AADHAR card not matching causing suspicion to him.
As the AADHAR card of Kabita, which was given in the Partition Deed, did not match with that of AADHAR card of Rectification Deed as well Sub-Registrar detected the forgery. The eye ridge and fingerprint of Kabita(fake) did not match in his office. Prasanti initially stated before Sub-Registrar that Kabita Nahak has done eye operation due to which eye ridge did not match, hence Sub-Registrar also tried to match the fingerprints and this also did not match.
The witnesses to Partition Deed i.e. Mini @ Puspanjali Nayak (friend of Prasanti Nahak) and Santanu Kumar Nahak ( brother of Prasanti Nahak ) also being physically present in O/O Sub-Registrar, BPR-II identified Kabita @ Panchei @ Basanti Nahak as original Kabita Nahak (50), knowing very well that original Kabita Nahak is at Gujarat and in her place fake Kabita Nahak. Hence, they both are a part of this fraud.
In this case all four accused persons have been arrested and forwarded to the court, informed Berhampur SP Dr. Saravana Vivek M.
