Bhubaneswar: The legislators of ruling Biju Janata Dal today staged demonstration against the unprecedented hike in LPG price.
The BJD MLAs protested near the statue of Mahatma Gandhi on the Assembly premises on the second day of Winter Session of the House.
The Odisha’s ruling party had issued an ultimatum to the center to lower the LPG gas prices by November 30 and threatened to hit the roads with mass protests.
Last month, the BJD had held a three-day protest agitation against the unprecedented price rise of LPG gas.
Meanwhile, the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders for commercial usage was hiked again on December 1. The price of the 19-kg commercial cylinder has been increased by Rs 100 per cylinder.
This is the second-highest price of 19-kg commercial cylinder after 2012-13 when it used to cost around Rs 2,200 per cylinder.
