Bhubaneswar: In view of the COVID-19 pandemic situation, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has banned the ‘Paya Shraddha and Pinda Dana’ rituals for ancestors at the Bindusagar Lake and Singha Dwara of Lord Lingaraj Temple on the day of Deepavali.
The civic body has issued an order in this regard.
“In view of restriction imposed by Government on large religious congregation and apprehension of spread of the COVID-19 virus due to congregation of large number of citizens on the day of Deepavali Festival at the Bindusagar Lake and Singha Dwara of Lord Lingaraj Temple to offer ‘Paya Shradha and Pinda Dana’, the said ritual function banned in the above mentioned place for this year”, the order reads.
