Srinagar: Retired Odia IAS officer Girish Chandra Murmu today administered the oath as the first Lt. Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Chief Justice of J&K High Court, Gita Mittal has administered the oath of office and secrecy to Murmu.
A native of Betnoti in Mayurbhanj district, Murmu was the principal secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi when the latter was the Chief Minister of Gujarat. He is considered to be a close confidante of the Prime Minister.
