Bhubaneswar: In a major setback to the Odisha unit of BJP ahead of 2024 elections, four BJP Corporators of Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) on Monday joined the ruling Biju Janata Dal.
Ward No 20 Corporator Rashmita Behera, Ward No. 21 Corporator D. Karunakar, Ward No. 22 Corporator Pradip Kumar Satapathy and Ward No. 27 Corporator Nilakantha Sahu took the primary membership of BJD at an induction programme held at Sankha Bhawan in Bhubaneswar.
Rajya Sabha MP and Berhampur Parliamentary Constituency Observer Manas Mangaraj, MP Dr. Sasmit Patra, former MLA and Ganjam District BJD President Dr. Ramesh Chandra Chyau Patnaik, Berhampur MLA Bikram Panda welcomed the new members to the party and said that their joining will further strengthen the BJD in the BeMC and Ganjam district.
The Corporators, who joined the BJD, said they were inspired by the principles, ideals and developmental works of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
