Bhubaneswar: As many as 750 babies were born in Odisha amid the very severe cyclonic storm Yaas that hit the coasts of the State on Wednesday, leaving behind a trail of destruction.
The Department of Women & Child Development & Mission Shakti played a major role in helping the expectant mothers during the devastating cyclone. It ensured shifting of around 2100 pregnant women in the cyclone districts who were approaching their dates of delivery to hospitals prior to the landfall of the cyclone Yaas.
As many as 750 babies were born during these two days, the WCD & MS Department said.

The Odisha Government had identified and shifted over 6500 pregnant women with an expected date of delivery before June 1 to hospitals and other health facilities in the vulnerable districts.
