Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has decided to provide millet or Ragi ladooos to the children in their daily food at Angawadi centres in the State.
A high power committee on Odisha Millets Mission has approved a proposal in this regard.
Besides, the committee also decided to add millet in the mid-day meal for the school children in the districts covered under District Mineral Fund(DMF) as nutrient supplement food.
The high power committee meeting chaired by development commissioner Suresh Mohapatra here today, gave approval to the proposal for procurement of 1 lakh quintals of millet (Ragi) during this kharif season.
The millets would be used to supply ladoos to Anganwadis, schools and also to the PDS card holders at Rs 1 a kg, sources said.
A survey would be conducted in the 7 district where Ragi, procured in 2018-19, were distributed through PDS to know the feedback from the people.
Apart from this, the committee also discussed various issues pertaining on strengthening the Millets Mission across the State.
