Bhubaneswar: The Secretariat of the Odisha Legislative Assembly has informed the Election Commission of India (ECI) about the vacancy at Padmapur Assembly Constituency seat in Bargarh district following the demise of sitting MLA Bijaya Ranjan Singh Bariha.
“The Hon’ble Speaker, Odisha Legislative Assembly regrets to announce the sad demise of Bijaya Ranjan Singh Bariha, Sitting Member of the Odisha Legislative Assembly elected from 01 — PADAMPUR Assembly Constituency of Bargarh District. He breathed his last on Monday, the 3rd October, 2022 at APOLLO Hospital, Bhubaneswar. Due to his death a vacancy has occurred in the House,” the Secretariat of the Odisha Legislative Assembly said in a notification.
Senior BJD leader and five-time legislator from Padampur constituency, Bijay Ranjan Singh Bariha passed away on October 3. He was 65.
