Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Friday nabbed an Assistant Engineer in Rayagada district for taking bribe from the family member of a contractor.
Ramakanta Mallik, Asst. Engineer(Estimator), O/o Executive Engineer, PH Division, Rayagada has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and accepting bribe Rs. 7,000 from a complainant ( a contractor’s family member) in order to process the file for signing of agreement between the contractor and the E.E, PH. Division, Rayagada for execution of two PH works.
The entire bribe money has been recovered from accused Mallik, Asst Engineer and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at 3 locations of Mallik from DA angle.
In this connection, Koraput Vigilance P.S case No. 30/2023 U/s 7 P.C Amendment Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against accused Mallik, the Vigilance said.
