Odisha-born Bollywood Sound Designer Nihar Ranjan Samal Bags Amazon Filmfare Award

Bhubaneswar: Bringing laurel to the Ollywood and the State, Odisha-born sound engineer Nihar Ranjan Samal, who works in Bollywood, has bagged the 65th Amazon Filmfare Award for his magnificent music and sound effects in ‘Uri – The Surgical Strike’ which won numerous accolades.

The soft spoken designer hails from Jajpur district and has worked alongside biggies like Bishwadeep Chatterjee and both of them have owned the Filmfare Award in the Best Sound design category for the ‘Uri’ movie.

He has also has worked as a sound designer for numerous hit films including ‘Padmavat’, ‘Bajirao Mastani’, ‘PK’ and ‘3 Idiots’.

He also bagged National Award for Madras Cafe in 2013 and has also been felicitated with Zee Cine, Producers Guild and IIFA awards for sound designing.

Besides, Nihar has exhibited his talent as a sound recordist for Odia movie ‘Krushna-Kaberi’ in 1999.
