Bhubaneswar: In a major boost to the ongoing transformation drive at the Srirama Chandra Bhanja Medical College and Hospital (SCB Medical College) to make it a world class institution, the Odisha Government on Tuesday allocated Rs 1000 crore for this Cuttack-based premier hospital of the State.
While presenting the Odisha Budget 2020-21, Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari said that tertiary health care facility is a critical requirement for the State. For this, the government purposes to transform the SCB Medical College into a state-of-art world class facility and into an AIIMS Plus integrated medical institution with 3000 beds.
The State Government will invest more than Rs 1,000 core over the next two years for this purpose, he said.
The Finance Minister’s announcement comes close on the heels of recent visits of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and 5T Secretary VK Pandian to this state-run hospital for review of development works.
