Bhubaneswar: Odisha Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today approved 15 major proposals, including upgrading CET, Bhubaneswar into a non-affiliating unitary university and up-gradation of Odisha State Wide Area Network OSWAN Project to strengthen digital infrastructure in the State.
Further strengthening technical education in the State, the Cabinet has approved proposal to transform CET, Bhubaneswar into non-affiliating Unitary University in the name and style of Odisha University of Technology & Research, Bhubaneswar.
This decision will facilitate high quality graduate and post-graduate education, research, and industry linkage. It will also open doors for collaborative ventures for higher learning and research with universities inside and outside the country.
The State Cabinet has also approved proposal for amendment of Odisha sub-ordinate Statistics & Economics Service Rules, 1994, amendment of the Odisha Govt Land Settlement Act, 1962, and amendment of Indian Stamp Act, 1899.
In a major boost to IT infrastructure in the State, the Cabinet gave its approval to upgrade the Odisha State Wide Area Network (OSWAN) Project. With reliable ad robust IT infrastructure at all district and block headquarters, this system will facilitate safe transfer of data, video & voice traffic etc.
To improve interstate connectivity, the Cabinet has approved 2-laning of 23-km long stretch of Duduka-Gopalpur-Toparia road with paved shoulder. The project worth Rs 102.65 crore will serve as mining traffic bearing road connecting Basundhara coal mines.
To ensure easy implementation of projects under ABADHA scheme in Puri & support sustainable development of heritage cities, the Cabinet has approved waiver of royalty & other statutory payments for supply of Khondalite blocks from reserved mines.
