Bhubaneswar: Odisha today celebrated the 72nd Republic Day in a low-key affair in view of COVID-19 pandemic situation.
Governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal unfurled the national flag at the state-level Republic Day celebrations at Mahatma Gandhi Marg here.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik graced the occasion as the guest of honour.
Keeping in mind the Covid-19 situation, the state government has restricted large gatherings and the participation of general public or school students in participating in the Republic Day celebrations this year.
As per guidelines issued by the Government, only police contingents are allowed to participate in the Republic Day celebrations.
For smooth conduct of the event around 25 platoon forces have been deployed and the Gandhi marg has been sealed till 3 PM.
