Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced a special Covid assistance package to the tune of Rs 1690.46 crore for weaker section including landless farmers, construction workers, people living below poverty line, primitive groups and MGNREGA workers.
Announcing the package, Naveen said that people from all sections of life have been badly affected by the pandemic. The poor people, the weaker section, however are the worst affected losing their daily earnings
“Due to the secondly wave of Covid-19, the state has remained under lockdown for last two months which has suvsequently broken backbone of the poor people. So to help them the government has come up with this special assistance,” said Patnaik.
Under the special package, each beneficiary of KALIA scheme will get an assistance of Rs 1000. Similarly registered construction workers will get assistance of Rs 1500 each.
Besides each family belonging to the primitive groups will also get Rs 5000.
Similarly, the workers work under MGNREGS will get additional Rs 50 per day from April 21 to June 21.It will cost Rs.300 crore to the State exchequer.
