Odisha CM Administers Pledges to 6,798 Sarpanches of Their Responsibility in Fight against COVID-19

Bhubaneswar: After giving Sarpanches the power of district collectors to combat the coronavirus, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today pledged them of their responsibility in war against the deadly COVID-19.

 

All 6798 Sarpanches of the State took pledge to facilitate quarantine of people who will return to their villages from other states and take care of their food, accommodation and treatment.

The Sarpanches also vowed to take necessary steps to keep their villages safe from the coronavirus.

Expressing his full faith on the ability of the Sarpanches, Patnaik said, “I do have full faith on your ability, that’s why I have given you the Collector’s power and Coronavirus cannot enter your village if you remain alert.”

“I know many of you are giving information about the people who are coming to the village from outside and alerting both the government and the people. You should continue to do the good work, whole administration is behind you” Patnaik added.

The Chief Minister addressed the Sarpanches and officials through video conferencing from Naveen Niwas.

The Panchyati Raj Minister Pratap Jena, Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy and other officials joined the video conference from Lok Seva Bhawan, while the Sarpanches joined from block office.
