Odisha CM Sanctions Ex-gratia of Rs 15 Lakh Each to Kin of Two Journalists Died of Covid-19

Bhubaneswar: As declared earlier, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today sanctioned ex-gratia of Rs.15 lakhs each to the families of two journalists, recognized as Covid warriors.

Late Priyadarshi Pattnaik, who was working at the premier Odia daily “ The Samaja” in Ganjam and Late K. Ch. Ratnam, who was working in Eenadu, (News Today Pvt. Ltd.) in Gajapati district.

Earlier in April, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had announced compassionate assistance of Rs 15 lakh to working journalists who die due to coronavirus infection.

Announcing the decision at that time the Chief Minister had said , “journalists play a major role in creating awareness among the masses about Covid-19 which has created a huge health issue across the countries of the world. They are working in a difficult situation to perform their professional duties”.
