Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has decided to take strict actions against traffic violators with five or more unpaid challans.
The twin city police has intensified the enforcement drive in order to ensure smooth movement of traffic and reduce accidents.
Police Commissioner Soumendra Priyadarshi said that there have been several instances where several e-challans go unpaid. Most violators do not bother to deposit the fine. The decision has been taken to enforce fine collection or lodge police complaints against habitual offenders.
In the initial phase, strict measures will be implemented against those individuals who have violated traffic rules on more than five occasions. If they persist in non-compliance, appropriate legal action will be taken against them, he said.
A Special traffic team will be responsible for pinpointing these habitual offenders and ensuring appropriate actions are taken, he added.
