Odisha Council of Ministers Approves Draft Budget; May Exceed One Lakh 38 Thousand Crore
Bhubaneswar: The Annual Budget of Odisha for the financial year 2019-20 may cross One Lakh 38 thousand crore rupees. The Odisha Council of Ministers today approved the draft budget in a meeting chaired by the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. The budget for this year will be more than the last year because of the new schemes launched by the State Government. Last year, the budget was for One Lakh 20 thousand crore rupees. In the supplementary budget for the year 2018-18, provision for an amount of 12 thousand 790 crore was made.
The final budget for 2019-20 will be presented in the Assembly on the 28th of June by finance Minister Niranjan Pujari. Though there was no briefing by the Government, it is expected that the size of the budget will be 15 to 18 percent higher than last year’s annual budget owing to some of the new schemes announced by the Chief Minister during his election campaigning.
The flagship programs of the government like KALIA, Mission Shakti, and Biju Swasthya Kalyana Yojana will get more allocation due to their importance. Along with these, disaster reconstruction and food security schemes will be priority for the government.
