Odisha DGP Reviews Security Arrangements at Barabati Stadium

Cuttack: Odisha Police Director General Abhay on Friday reviewed the security arrangements for the upcoming One Day International (ODI) cricket match between India and West Indies at Barabati Stadium here on December 22.

“A large number of police forces have been deployed for maintenance of security and law and order”, the DGP told media after conducting the review.

At least 80 platoons of the police force will be deployed during the match, he added.

The Indian and West Indies teams had reached Bhubaneswar on Thursday and stayed in a star hotel in the city amidst tight security.

Both the teams were supposed to come to the stadium for net practice. But the net practice programme was postponed to tomorrow. The players will take rest today and do their net practice tomorrow.

The West Indies team will have net practice tomorrow from 9 am to 12 noon and Indian players will practise from 2 pm to 5 pm.

Meanwhile, the Twin City Police Commissionerate has issued an advisory for free movement of vehicular traffic on the match day in Cuttack.
