Odisha: DGP Reviews Security Arrangements for Counting of Votes CCTV to be Installed

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government has made elaborate security arrangements for the counting of votes to be held on May 23 for both Lok Sabha and Assembly poll in Odisha.

As many as 172 platoons of Special Armed Police and 69 companies of Central Armed Police will be deployed for the counting of votes for 21 Lok Sabha and 146 Assembly constituencies, said DGP RP Sharma after reviewing the security arrangements with senior officials.

The SPs have been asked open control rooms with VHF sets near the counting centres as the process will take longer time, he added.

“Already 69 companies of central paramilitary forces are guarding the strong rooms where the voting machines are kept. 12 more companies will join the duty in State very soon, said an official.

The SPs have been asked submit a report on requirement of extra man-power for security.

The SPs will ensure ensure proper barricading, installation of CCTV cameras both inside and outside counter centres, robust patrolling
