Odisha Dispatches 112 Tankers to 8 States With 2112 Tonnes Oxygen

Bhubaneswar: The efforts to provide medical grade liquid oxygen to the needy states reached new high with Odisha government dispatching 112 tankers with 2112 tonnes of Oxygen till date. While Andhra Pradesh has been sent the highest number of 38 tankers(811.04), Telangana received 27 Oxygen tankers(479.419 MT). Likewise, Madhya Pradesh has received 17 tankers(251.32 MT) of liquid Oxygen. Haryana, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Tamil Nadu have received 8, 6, 9, 5, 2 tankers respectively in the last six days.

While the major states are in dire need of Oxygen due to a sharp surge in the number of corona infections, Odisha government has committed to provide all help to them in facilitating the transportation of liquid Oxygen from the state. Odisha Police has been doing its best by providing a dedicated corridor for the tankers and escorting them for a hassle free movement. The government has also formed a special cell headed by senior Police Officer Y K Jethwa to monitor the efforts.

The steel plants situated in Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, and Rourkela are producing medical grade Oxygen which is being sent to the states.
