Odisha Evacuates Nearly Six Lakh People To Safer Places

Bhubaneswar: With the Very Severe Cyclonic Storm Yaas creating havoc in the coastal areas of Odisha, the district administrations in the coastal areas have evacuated nearly six lakh people to safer places.

The numbers may increase after reports from the panchayats are tabulated. In Balsore, the authorities have shifted one lakh fifty two thousand people to cyclone shelters.

In Bhadrak, one lakh twenty thousand vulnerable people have been shifted to safer places. In Kendrapada and Mayurbhanj districts, the authorities have shifted more than One lakh and sixty thousand people to the safer cyclone shelters.

As the landfall process is continuing and is expected to move over Mayurbhanj district and adjoining areas, more and more people are being evacuated in those areas.
