Odisha Files Contempt Petition In SC Against Andhra Pradesh Over Kotia Dispute

New Delhi: Odisha Government Wednesday filed a contempt petition in the Supreme Court against Andhra Pradesh over Kotia Border dispute. The case has been filed by Advocate on Record (AOR) Siba Sankar Mishra. Odisha has alleged that Andhra Pradesh has willfully violated the Supreme Court’s two orders delivered in 1968 and 2006 for maintenance of status quo. Chief Secretary Andhra Pradesh, Collector Vizianagaram and State Election Commissioner Andhra Pradesh, have been named in the petition.

The matter may be taken up in urgency as three disputed villages in the border area are going for panchayat polls by Andhra Pradesh on the 13th and 17th of this month. The three villages that are going for polls are Talaganjeipadar, Phatuseneri and Phagunaseneri.
