Bhubaneswar: Odisha Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari today presented the supplementary budget of Rs 11,200 crore for the financial year 2020-21 in the Assembly.
Keeping in view of the COVID-19 pandemic, the focus of the supplementary budget is re-prioritization of the allocations, said the Finance Minister while presenting the first supplementary budget of the 2020-21 financial year.
In the ongoing fight against COVID-19, the State Government has introduced a slew of measures for protecting the life and livelihood of the people, Pujari said.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had announced special packages to revive the various sectors of the economy, he said.
The State Government will thrive to follow all prudent fiscal management parameters as set in the FRBM Act without compromising on the priority sector expenditure as well as expenditure to save lives and livelihoods of the people despite the impact of the pandemic on the economy, the Finance Minister added.
The supplementary budget has the provision of Rs 11,200 crore, which includes Rs 2,273 crore towards administrative expenditure, Rs 7,438 crore towards programme expenditure, Rs 1,484 crore towards disaster management funds and Rs 5 crore towards transfer to local bodies, Pujari further stated.
Giving priority on the healthcare sector, the government has allocated Rs 1627 crore for public healthcare in the supplementary budget. Rs 100 crore has been provided for infrastructure development for medical colleges and primary and secondary health institution under Mukhya Mantri Swasthya Seva Mission.
Similarly, Rs 409 crore has been allocated for strengthening anciliary services in health sector, which include Rs 305 crore for medical equipments and Rs 104 crore for NIRMAL.
