Bhubaneswar: A youth from Odisha’s Ganjam district was arrested for allegedly duping a man of more than Rs 34 lakh using fake Facebook profile.
The youth has been identified as Sreedhar Maharana (26) from Berhampur.
Sreedhar had created a fake Facebook profile in the name of Shivani Panda and lured Ankit Kumar Gupta, an engineer at NTPC in Chhattisgarh into a love trap, as per reports.
Sreedhar had impersonated himself as a third-year medical (MBBS) student of a private college in Cuttack. He had managed to gain the trust of Gupta and duped Rs 34.37 lakh in one year.
Sreedhar was arrested by the Cyber Crime and Economic Offences police station following a probe into the alleged cybercrime based on an FIR lodged by Gupta.
