Bhubaneswar: As part of its preparedness to avoid adverse impact of heat wave conditions, the Odisha Government has directed all schools to conduct morning sessions from 2 April 2018.
With the India Meteorological Department predicting heat wave conditions in Odisha, the government has asked all private and government-run schools across the state to conduct morning sessions from 6 am to 10.30 am.
In a circular, the School and Mass Education Department has directed school authorities to complete their mid-day meals by 10.30 am. The schools should not open after 11 am, the circular said, while adding that the students should not be forced to physical exercise against their will.
Schools having no tube wells and drinking water facilities, the headmasters of these schools have been asked to advise the students to bring water bottles and umbrellas with them, the Department said.
The government has also insisted the educational institutions to take adequate measures for drinking water and first aid facilities during examinations, so that no child will suffer from sunstroke.
The new academic session (2018-19) beings from 3 April. The Prabesh Divas (entry day) would be celebrated in all schools to enrol the children in the 6-14 age groups in schools. In addition, children who have discontinued or children who are yet to be enrolled would be invited to the school for enrollment with their parents. The awareness campaign would continue from 2 April till 5 April.
The summer vacation would begin from 4 May 2018.
