Odisha Government Warns Hospitals/Clinics Against Denying Medicare To Patients From Hotspot Districts
Bhubaneswar: Keeping in view the large number of complaints regarding denial of service to patients from hotspot districts, the Government of Odisha has warned strict action for wrongdoers. In a stern message to healthcare facilitates not complying guidelines in treating patients, Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy has said “Patients needing medicare at hospitals/clinics need urgent attention. Instances have come of some private hospitals reluctant in admitting patients from hotspots districts. It’s ethically wrong and illegal. Be informed Government action against wrongdoers will be serious.”

He also said, people who are denied treatment by private Hospitals and Clinics can inform toll free number 100 and seek help. They have been directed accordingly.
In the last few days, there were a number of complaints received from Bhubaneswar and other cities where hospitals and clinics denied treatment to patients from hotspot districts such as Ganjam, Jajpur, Khordha and Cuttack leading to unnecessary delay in treatment. The government is contemplating cancellation of license and sealing of facilities that intentionally deny treatment to people from Hotspot districts.
