Bhubaneswar: In a significant change in its policy, Odisha Government on Monday allowed the home isolation of asymptomatic and mildly symptomatic Covid-19 patients.
Briefing media, Chief Secretary, Asit Kumar Tripathy, said that the home isolation to be allowed initially in urban areas, district headquarters and block headquarters.
Now corporates, institutions, NGOs, agencies, resident welfare associations having facilities facilities will also be permitted to keep their own members, employees and workers having asymptomatic and mildly symptomatic COVID19 patients in isolation with certain conditions, Tripathy further added. They however have to submit an undertaking before running such facilities.
He further clarified that patients infected with HIV, cancer, old people suffering from multiple diseases cannot opt for home isolation facility.
Covid-19 patients are being treated free of cost in the State, if any organization needs fund for home isolation facilities, Government is ready to provide both financial assistance and capacity building support, he added.
While recovery rate from Covid-19 is around 64-65%, the fatality rate stands at 0.48% which is among the lowest in country, Tripathy said.
