Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government on Saturday announced cash incentives for the State’s medalists in the 37th edition of the National Games, which will be held from October 26 in Goa.
A Gold Medalist will be awarded Rs 5 lakh, Silver Medalist will get Rs 3 lakh and Bronze Medalist will be felicitated with Rs 2 lakh, for both individual and team events, according to the Odisha Sports and Youth Services Department.
The Odisha contingent will feature over 300 athletes including 180 women and will be participating in 31 disciplines.
The Olympic-style multisport event will be featuring a record-breaking 43 sporting disciplines. The event will see participation from 28 states and 8 union territories.
The 37th National Games will mark the debut of several new sports disciplines on the medal stage, including beach football, roll ball, golf, sepaktakraw, sqay martial arts, kalliyarapattu, and pencak silat. Additionally, yachting and taekwondo are making a triumphant return to the Games after their exclusion during the last edition.
