Odisha Govt Announces Rs 5 Crore for Development of Puri Swargadwar in First Phase

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has decided to spend Rs 5 crore for the development of Puri Swargadwar in the first phase.

The expenditure will be met from the Chief Ministers’ Relief Fund. The development work at the cremation ground will be carried out with support of Phoenix Foundation.

A decision in this regard has been taken at the high level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the Lok Seva Bhawan here today.

Puri Swargadwar faced massive damage during the devastating cyclone storm Fani that hit the State in May this year. Hence, the state government has undertaken the renovation of the cremation ground.

Puri Swargadwar will have all modern facilities for cremation of bodies in all seasons. It will also have restrooms for the pallbearers. Special arrangements will be made for collection and preservation of ashes, sources said.

The Chief Minister urged the officials to complete the development work of Puri Swargadwar in six months.
