Odisha Govt Appeals People to Come Forward to Report If COVID-19 Symptoms Appear

Bhubaneswar: A day after Odisha reported its 5th positive COVID-19 case, the Odisha government today appealed all to come forward and inform the health department authorities having symptoms of coronavirus.

In regular press briefing, Odisha government’s Chief Spokesperson on COVID-19 Subroto Bagchi said, the 5th patient in Odisha had picked up a call from the authorities after several attempts. If someone has symptoms, the concerned person must not get fearful, he further added.

Cough, fever and difficulties in breathing are some of the symptoms of COVID-19.

When someone comes forward informing the Health authorities immediately about his/her symptoms the concerned person can help others to be safe, as well, he further added.

Meanwhile, NHM Director, Shalini Pandit advised people to follow COVID-19 protocol.

She urged the people having COVID-19 symptoms not to visit hospitals on their own rather they should call 104 immediately.

As on April 2, a total of 900 samples were tested. Of them five were found to be positive for deadly COVID-19.

The State Government has so far traced at least 21 people who came in contact with the fifth Covid-19 patient.

The patient is now undergoing treatment at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here.

According to Health and Family Welfare Department, the 5th patient hails from Surya Nagar area in Bhubaneswar.
