Odisha Govt Exempts Road Tax for 2 Months for Stage, Contract Carriages; Buses of Educational Institutions

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government today announced the exemption of road tax for the months of April and May for stage/contract carriages and buses of all educational institutions in the State. 

The Commerce and Transport Department issued an order in this regard on Monday.
“On account of second wave of COVID-19, plying of inter-state buses have been stopped and on account of imposition of lockdown and weekend shutdown by the State Government, the normal fleet of intra – state buses in the State has been affected. Now, therefore, Government in Commerce & Transport (Transport) Department in exercise of powers conferred under Section 15 (1) of the Odisha Motor Vehicle Taxation (OMVT) Act , 1975 and in consideration of the demands of the Bus Owners have been pleased to exempt the payment of tax & additional tax of Stage/ Contract Carriages and Buses of all Educational Institutions in the State for the month of April & May, 20211”, the order said.
