Bhubaneswar: Amid rise in Coronavirus cases in Ganjam district, the Odisha Government has decided to put a robust health infrastructure in place to provide better health services to the Covid-19 patients in the district.

Besides, the Government has also decided to give more emphasis on providing better telemedicine services to the people and creating awareness about Covid-19 among the masses.

In a review meeting under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department Pradipta Mohapatra, a strategy was formulated to put a break on the death due to Corona virus and to improve the monitoring mechanism system.

It was also decided to reopen the Out Patient Department (OPD) and emergency wards to run round the clock in the MKCG medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.

An additional Medical Superintendent will be appointed who will assist medical superintendent in Covid-19 management.

The pediatric ward of the MKCG medical will be convert to 100 bedded Covid Care Centre (CCC) and same will be function under the direct supervision of district Collector.

Similarly, 150 each bedded Covid Care Centre (CCC) will be set up at the Bidyutpuri and Sishumandir in the city.

In yet another major strategy, ten percent bed of the CCC and CHC will be reserved for those patient whose oxygen level is relatively low and reach the centre at the later stages.

In order to reduce the anxiety of the Covid-19 positive patients, psychiatric consultants under a psychiatrist to provide tele counseling support.

Covid-19 patients who have recovered for the dieses will also be engaged as the consultants and as Covid monitor, they will counsel at least 10 patients. They will be paid Rs 1000 for such work.

Similarly, medicine kit will also be provided to the patients who are I home isolation with with intake information about medicine written in Odia.

In another major decision, the Ganjam Collector will reserve hotels in both Berhampur and Gopalpur to provide lodging facility to doctors, the frontline fighter.

Medical support in medicine, orthopedic, psychiatric, and pediatric will be provided to the the emergency patients through telemedicine.
