Odisha Govt Gears up to Take on Corona Virus; Sets up Special Ward in SCB

Cuttack: In the wake of the deadly Corona Virus (nCoV) spreading its wings to new territories, the Odisha Government has set up a special ward with eight ICUs and 40 beds at the SCB Medical College and Hospital here to treat any possible patients infected with the novel corona virus (nCoV).

Speaking to media, Emergency Officer Bhubanananda Maharana said, “A professor and two doctors from the pulmonary department have also been deputed to the special section for treatment.”

The State Government has notified four hospitals – SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, VSS Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla, Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar and District Headquarters Hospital, Jharsuguda – as isolation and treatment centres for possible patients infected with the deadly nCoV.

Notably, the State Government had issued an advisory to different authorities including hospitals, airports, ports and railway divisions to put in place necessary arrangements to tackle any situation in view of the outbreak of the virus.
