Bhubaneswar: Keeping in view the prevailing market prices of pulses and vegetables, the Odisha Government has decided to increase the unit cost of ration to serve nutritious mid-day meals (MDM) to the school students in the State.
As per sources, the average ration cost for primary students has been increased Rs 4.80 to Rs 4.93 and from Rs 7.16 to Rs 7.36 for upper primary students. The revised cost is effective from July 1.
The cost of mid-day meal is shared in the ratio of 60:40 between the Centre and State. The increased cost will be shared accordingly, mentioned the nodal officier of MDM scheme in a letter to district Collectors.
