Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has issued an advisory to all concerned district and municipal authorities to manage the post-monsoon cyclone season for the year 2022.
Shalini Pandit, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Health & Family Welfare Department has written to the Collectors of all districts, Commissioners of all municipalities, CDM & PHOs, and Superintendents of all Govt. MCHs for management of post-monsoon cyclone for the year 2022.
In the letter, Pandit mentioned that during the post-monsoon season there is the possibility of a flood or cyclone due to sudden low pressure which warrants possible mass causality, disease outbreak and other emergency situations.
It is desired to ensure the following aspects on a priority basis on receipt of cyclone warning if any:
• Sufficient stock of essential medicines for flood-related diseases, water purifying tablets, and anti-snake venom in hospitals at different levels.
• Sufficient stock of bleaching powder, chlorine tablets, lime powders etc will also be ensured.
• Necessary steps need to be taken for shifting pregnant women in vulnerable areas to MAA Gruha.
• Pregnant women having an expected date of delivery (EDD) within the next 10 days should be shifted to the nearest government hospital having a safe delivery facility.
• Ensure power backup arrangement in all PHCs, CHCs, DHH and other hospitals.
