Bhubaneswar: In a remarkable step, the Odisha Government today launched the ‘Odisha Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar’ to promote cleanliness (Swachhata) among school students and teachers.
The State Government has also unveiled an app for registration of the educational institutions for the award, informed School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Das.
Both government and aided schools can register for the swachhata award through the app. The registration is open till October 14 and scrutiny of applications will be done from October 15 till October 31, Das said.
The government will award the schools from November 1 to 10.
The Minister said that a award of Rs 2,000 will be given to schools at block level, Rs 5,000 at district level and Rs 10,000 at the State level.
As many as 1,256 schools will be given the prestigious award at block level, 240 schools at district level and 40 educational institutions at the State level, he added.
Rating system has also been introduced the Odisha Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar. The school, which achieves 90-100% cleanliness will be accorded five star rating, whereas schools with 75-89% cleanliness will be given four star.
