Bhubaneswar: Days after undertaking several major infra projects to transform Puri into a world class heritage city, the Odisha Government is planning to develop old town area known as Ekamra Kshetra as a heritage city, according to reports.
As per sources, the State Government will announce a development package for the transformation of the old town area in the state capital city.
A 10-member committee has been constituted for the purpose. The committee headed by Chief Secretary Asit Kumar Tripathy is known as the Ekamra Kshetra Infrastructure Development Committee.
Other members of the Committee include Development Commissioner Suresh Mohapatra, Finance Secretary Ashok Meena, Housing and Urban Development Secretary G Mathivathanan, Culture Secretary Manoranjan Panigrahy, Tourism Secretary Vishal Dev, Bhubaneswar Development Authority Vice Chairman Prem Chandra Chaudhary, Police Commissioner Sudhansu Sarangi and CRUT Managing Director Arun Bothra.
The Committee has been tasked to prepare a comprehensive development plan for the old town area in the city and the financial implications for the purpose, sources said.
Notably, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has approved development projects worth Rs 3,208 crore to transform Puri into a world class city.
