Odisha Govt Takes Austerity Measures, Orders Deferment of Salaries of Bureaucrats, Public Representatives
Bhubaneswar: As part of the austerity measures in view of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in the State, the Odisha Government has decided to defer salaries of elected representatives and bureaucrats.
“There shall be a deferment of 70% in the gross salary, in respect of Chief Minister, Ministers, MLAs, Chairperson of all Corporations and elected representatives of all local bodies”, an order issued by the Odisha Government stated on Tuesday.
There shall be a deferment of 50% in gross salary in respect of All India Service Officers i.e. IAS, IPS and IFS, the order said.
This order will come in to force with immediate effect, it added.
The decision was taken in view of the economic impact caused due to lockdown and expenditures incurred to control COVID-19.
