Bhubaneswar: Extending social security to the destitute elderly and differently-abled persons amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Odisha Government has decided to provide Madhu Babu pension for four months in advance to the beneficiaries in September.
This has been informed by Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD) Minister Ashok Chandra Panda here on Monday.
The beneficiaries will now get pension for four months (September, October, November and December) in advance in September.
The decision is expected to provide financial assistance to nearly 48 lakh beneficiaries.
Earlier, the State Government had provided additional financial assistance of Rs 1,000 to the beneficiaries under the Madhu Babu Pension Yojana for the four months in addition to their pension in view of financial hardship caused by the COVID-19 lockdown.
Recently, the State Government has included the third-gender people under the Madhu Babu Pension Yojana.
