Bhubaneswar: With the onion prices increasing everyday, the Odisha Government on Wednesday asked Collectors to initiate steps to make onion available at government fair price shops and Maitree outlets at no-profit-no-loss basis.
In a letter to all Collectors, the State Government has asked the district administrations to procure onion from local markets and sell those to bonafide consumers through government fair price shops and Maitree outlets.
Full all in production and crop loss due to rain in Nasik in Maharastra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, the major source of imports to the state.
Onion is being sold at Rs 65-70 per Kilogram in various places of twin city.
