Bhubaneswar: In yet another step towards economic empowerment of women, the Odisha Government has decided to set up ‘Chhatua’ production units in each block of the State involving the women self-help groups (SHGs).
Incessant strive of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik towards holistic development of women in the state has yet again been reflected by the recent step taken by MSME Department, the Nodal Department in implementing PMFME scheme under which, inter alia, women SHGs are the major group of beneficiaries. Recently, it has been decided to promote and foster the SHGs involved in production of the take home ration “Chhatua” under the PMFME scheme.
In association with Department of Mission Shakti and Department of W&CD; MSME Department has formulated a plan to select one SHG from each block in the State involved in production of Chhatua. The Department of W&CD has shared a list of 314 such Chhatua producing SHGs with MSME Department which has been forwarded to all District Collectors for further action. This will usher in formalization of the unorganized Chhatua producing SHGs by technological gap analysis and providing hand holding support, branding & marketing assistance and more importantly credit linked subsidy @35% of their eligible capital investment, an official release said.
