Bhubaneswar: Odisha has the capacity to conduct nearly 20,000 COVID-19 tests a day, said National Health Mission (NHM) Director Shalini Pandit here today.
Briefing media on the current status of COVID-19 in the State, the NHM Director said more than 5 lakh COVID-19 tests have been conducted so far in the State. The tests are being done at 54 labs in all 30 districts, she added.
The State has sufficient testing equipment and kits to conduct 20,000 tests daily, Pandit said.
The NHM Director stated that there has been an increase in coronavirus cases due to more testing.
In Ganjam, more than 2,000 tests are being conducted daily, she further said.
Talking about the convalescent plasma therapy, she said out of 33 patients who were administered the therapy so far, condition of 23 patients is improving.
The State Government has procured new drugs like Remdesiver, Fabiflu, Tocilizumab and has supplied them to hospitals for the treatment of patients, she added.
