Bhubaneswar: Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who is on a two day visit to the state, has said that Odisha has created an example in Disaster Management in the country. Speaking at a program held at the Lok Seva Bhawan, the Home Minister praised Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Odisha Government for successes in Disaster Management.
Home Minister Amit Shah and CM Naveen today inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of two National Highway Projects – four laning of the Kamakhyanagar-Duburi Highway and Moter-Banner Highway extension project. Speaking during the program, HM Amit Shah said that Naxal activities have tremendously decreased in Odisha. He congratulated the Odisha Government and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for this achievement. In his speech, the HM said “From 2015-2019, there has been a 30% decrease in the number of naxal incidents, a 32% decrease in encounters and a 56% decrease in death of security personnel. I thank Odisha government and Naveen Babu for extending cooperation to us to curb Naxalism”.
Speaking about the expansion of infrastructure projects in the state, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has said that “This year we plan to include 6,500 km of road and construction of around 300 bridges…In recent years, we have completed two airports…Odisha always believes in cooperative federalism. I thank the Govt of India for its support to the state in its development agenda…”.
