Odisha Health Dept Reviews Preparedness to Deal with Heat Wave Related Health Issues

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Health and Family Welfare Department has reviewed the preparedness to deal with the heat wave related health issues in the State.

A review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Commissioner-cum Secretary of Health Department Shalini Pandit to take stock of preparedness of the districts for heat wave situation.

The Health Department has asked the district administrations to remain in readiness with all drugs, logistics and consumables to deal with the situation and submit report both online in IHIP portal and off-line to State IDSP unit.

The Department said that the districts will co-ordinate with emergency section of Collectorate and will increase lEC/BCC activities at district level to circulate the Do’s & Don’ts and to make people aware about heat related illness.
Keeping in view the higher electrical load due to use of AC, Fans and Coolers etc. during summer, all the CDM & PHOs will ensure annual electric audit immediately and renew the AMC & CMC of fire fights equipments, the Department stated.

A mock drill will be conducted in medical colleges and all CHC and other health facilities in coordination with Fire Department, it added.
