Odisha Imposes Rs 5000 Fine For Repeated Offences Of Not Wearing Masks

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government today increased the penalty amount for not wearing face masks by the people stepping out of their homes.

Announcing this in a press briefing today, State Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy said that fine for violation of mask guidelines has been hiked to Rs 1,000 for first two violations and Rs 5,000 for subsequent violations.

Earlier, the amount was Rs 200 for first-time offenders and Rs 500 for repeat offenders.

Violation of social distancing norms in wedding ceremony and at commercial establishments will o be penalized Rs 10,000, he said.
